Basketball practices... play practices... band concerts... voice lessons... choir concerts.
Enough Jesus! Enough!
All these bills to pay and not enough money to cover them.
Enough Jesus! Enough!
Navigating the world of teenagers. I am not equipped.
Enough Jesus! Enough!
How is my child supposed to navigate middle school when her entire friend group has dropped her?
Enough Jesus! Enough!
What do you mean he died, how will my children process the loss of their friend?
Enough Jesus! Enough!
Then you heap onto my sorrow, that bus was full of kids! They had their whole lives ahead of them. How could you let this happen?
Enough Jesus! Enough!
My heart is broken Jesus. To witness the shell of someone who was so alive and so strong, be so obviously ravaged by cancer.
Truly enough Jesus! Enough!
These are just a few of the examples that I could come up of the thousand different times when the struggles of this world has left me wearily crying out, "Enough Jesus! Enough!", but weariness and struggling are not new problems.
Exodus 2:23 During those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God.
As I take in the God of the Exodus, I realize something. He is the God in the hard and he is in the hard with us! His glory and His might shines brilliantly in the darkness as he not only led his people to deliverance, but also led them in the wilderness. We follow this same leading God today.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp into my feet, and a light unto my path. This is the same God who has personally revealed himself to me, His glory and His might, in the hard circumstances of my life. He is the God who strengthens and sustains. My weary prayer changes to a prayer of sustaining.
Be enough for me Jesus!
He is the God who restores, even restoring the word "Enough" for me. It causes me to introspectively ponder,
Is Jesus enough when I am weary?
Is Jesus enough for me in the want?
Is Jesus enough for me in the busy?
Is Jesus enough for me when I don't know what to say, or how to counsel and instruct?
Is Jesus enough for me as I enter sorrow, my own and sorrow in the lives of others?
So much sorrow! Seeing him lying there in that casket. But, that is just a shell, a remnant of the spirit inside, the flesh that needs to die so the spirit can fully live. Then I think of his spirit, radiantly alive! In the presence of Jesus, the essence of pure, radiant love as he has never experienced Jesus before and my spirit knows as my flesh struggles!
Yes Jesus, you are enough!
